In 1979, my father turned his passion for photography into something bigger than himself—he founded our portrait studio. At that time, photography was still very different from what it is today. There were no digital cameras, no instant previews, and certainly no editing apps. Each photograph was carefully crafted, developed by hand, and treasured as a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
I was just a teenager when I started helping in the studio. What began as little tasks—sweeping the floor, organizing prints, assisting with lights—quickly grew into something more. I fell in love with watching people step in front of the camera and reveal a side of themselves they didn’t always show to the world. I loved the way a single image could capture a laugh, a look, or a connection between family members.
When my father handed me the reins years later, I felt the weight of carrying on not just a business, but a legacy. For five decades, our studio has been more than just a place to take pictures—it has been a place where families celebrate milestones, generations come together, and memories are preserved for a lifetime.
One of the things I’m most proud of is photographing families across generations. Some of the babies we photographed in the 1990s are now bringing in their own children. It’s a privilege I never take for granted.
Of course, the tools have changed. Today, I work with advanced digital cameras, professional lighting, and editing software that allows me to perfect every detail. But at its core, photography hasn’t changed—it’s still about connection, artistry, and preserving moments that matter.
As I continue this journey, I look forward to sharing more of what I’ve learned along the way. In this blog, I’ll be opening the doors to the stories behind the lens—tips for preparing for portraits, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and the lessons I’ve learned over 45+ years of doing what I love.
Thank you for being part of this story. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning, or are just finding us now, I’m grateful you’re here.
